ABSTRACT

Chemical structure is the arrangement of chemical bonds between atoms in a molecule. It is basically the relation between atoms and neighbouring atoms to form the molecule along with the geometrical shape of the molecules. For macromolecules like fi bres and polymers, chemical structure is the molecular geometry. Molecular geometry refers to spatial arrangement of atoms that hold the molecule together. The adoption of defi nite chemical structures for polymers results in its practical applications, because it has led to an understanding of how and why the physical and chemical properties of polymers or fi bres change with the nature of chemical groups and structure.
