ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of the book. The book describes the exercises and techniques that speak to a kind of meta-performance, performances that re-define what performance can be, and what they can mean to an audience. These kinds of performances exist and some of them are on proscenium stages. They are the kind of performances that reach out beyond the stage and pull their audiences in. They are energetic performances, deeply inspired performances and are often peak performance experiences for those who perform in them and often for those who watch them. Michael Chekhov Technique encourages the actor to put the process in their own hands, strive to explore and discover that which makes the character vibrant and exciting in the actor's imagination and to do it physically. Non-traditional stagings offer the most potential for creating pieces that strive to reach the audience in both tangible and intangible ways.
