ABSTRACT

A general sketch of the history of Frankish Cyprus has been drawn, but to evaluate this sketch and to complete the portrait in all its details we must broaden our palette and increase the number and type of brushes at our disposal. The time has come in the modern historiography of Frankish Cyprus to embark on an ambitious program to gather systematically all sources for the period, whether published or unpublished, known or hitherto unknown, and put them in a more usable form, while at the same time compiling a prosopographical database that will assist in the future development of the field.
