Work's attitudes to women

In January 1972 Mr Isaac Donner, the managing director of a shirtmakers' company was reported as saying that he wanted to replace with men the 1400 women in his company's factories in Yorkshire and in Wales.1 The company employed about 100 men at this time. Mr Donner's reasons for this decision throw an interesting light on the attitudes of employers to women workers.
