ABSTRACT

Few women fare worse in the present employment situation than working mothers. In no area of the labour market is there a greater waste of potential both in the numbers of workers available and in the range of their talents. Increasingly, the story of women's employment in our time is going to be that of the employment of married women. The response of employers, of government, and not least of the wives themselves to the problems faced by married women in paid employment will largely determine the course of events in women's employment as a whole.
