ABSTRACT

The legal framework for the protection of Internally Displaced Persons has been made for disasters of climate change induced displacement persons in developing countries. Issue of Displacement has become more problematic with unpredictable disasters such as cyclones, floods and mudslide rising due to climate change. The climate change is increasingly dramatic impacts on ecological and social systems. The United Nations Secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon announced in 2008 that establishment of an inter-agency climate change centre to support countries in the pacific region. Cause of human displacement is a decrease in vital resources for example water, land and food production which create conflict and violence due to climate change. Lack of sustainability of durable solutions perpetuates the displacement situation and states risk a violation of international law. The International community must support and strengthen states abilities to protect their own citizens, both from the displacement and during displacement.
