ABSTRACT
In the 1480s, the kingdoms of England and Scotland endured parallel crises. At the battle of Bosworth, in 1485, the king of England, Richard III, was killed, and the victor seized the crown to become Henry VII. At the battle of Sauchieburn, in 1488, the king of Scots, James III, was killed, and the victor became King James IV.
