ABSTRACT

James Franklin was one of the first in architecture to use the term "transformative practice". It was the working subtitle of his 2000 book Architect's Professional Practice Manual. Jason Jennings, in his 2012 work The Reinventors, says: Unless a business is constantly undergoing radical change, it will never be able to stay ahead of its customers' constantly changing wants and needs, and its growth will first falter and then completely stop. The ability of an organization to embrace radical change and reinvention is determined by the ego of the person in charge; substantive change is never initiated from the mid level or bottom ranks of an organization. Coordination is the project manager's toughest task. A system that shortens and clarifies the connections between pieces of information is certain to reduce mistakes and delays. A core idea in building information modeling (BIM)-speak is 'levels of maturity' in the way that BIM tools are used and information managed.
