ABSTRACT
Again, half of them had part of their career associated with wartime conditions, nearly one quarter of them being secretary/personal assistants, and a sixth involved in voluntary service. For most of these the wartime experience proved fruitful to their subsequent careers. A small number had grown up with the company and, by being involved closely with the head of the company and a small number of colleagues, had remained with the organization until it had outgrown its origins.
