ABSTRACT
Specialization may mean that a person becomes typecast, and spending too long in one department may preclude a man or woman from being considered for jobs in other departments. Since it is in any case difficult for women to get jobs in other departments, some women found it only natural that they tended to stay where they were welcome and did not fight to be accepted in alien communities. This again was felt to limit their prospects for promotion.
