ABSTRACT

At the end of the fifteenth century the Vijayanagar empire was on its road to decline and Narasingha was creating a new dynasty after a successful revolt. At that time we see five new dynasties were emerging in which Adil Shah of Bijapur was one. The others were Barid Shah of Bidar, Imad Shah of Berar, Nizam Shah of Ahmadnagar and Qutub Shah of Golconda. The rise of these five kingdoms was the result of the break-up of the Bahmani kingdom and growing anarchy in the Empire of Vijayanagar.
