ABSTRACT

A few Sarwaria, or, as they prefer calling themselves, Rámá-Chándra Bráhmans, are employed in Dacca as constables, doorkeepers, and servants in the houses of rich Bábús. They are of higher rank than the Maithila, and are very strict in expelling any of their tribe who marry in Bengal, or eat sweetmeats prepared by the confectioner.
