ABSTRACT
Admittedly, there is no single, readily identifiable cause for Mithila’s ‘backwardness’. ere is no one thing that we can point to, producing one of those ‘a-ha’ moments when everything becomes clear; everything just falls into place. If there was, policies and programmes would have already been put in place to effect the necessary change(s). After all, it has been 65-plus years since the independent government of India came into existence, with its multiple development plans.
