The effect of the great Folio of 1616 is to crystallize Jonson's oeuvre in one moment of time, offering it to the world complete and perfect. Yet Jonson was also engaged in other literary work during the years of this demanding project; for his working life did not come to a stop, and he continued to be in demand both for masque-making and in the public theatre.
