ABSTRACT
Mathematical models can give unique insight into some issues, illustrated here with the addition model and a signal detection model. Model analysis can be simple, moreover, as both models demonstrate. Technicalities are minimized in order to concentrate on conceptual issues. Most of this discussion, accordingly, applies generally to other mathematical models.
