ABSTRACT

The previously stated “Right to Education for Indigenous and Minority Cultures in Multicultural Societies” is applicable, with modifications and elaboration, to all people in the present global culture and economy. I believe the fundamental justification for the right to education is the undeniable effect on all humans of recent colonialism and of the current global economy and culture. Based on this justification, the goal of education is to provide all people with the ability to determine the personal and group benefits from the ongoing process of the hybridization of the world’s cultures and the economic impact of global financial structures. This justification and goal provide the guiding principle for determining the minimum content for fulfilling the right to education for all people. Establishing a universal justification for the right to education based on these principles resolves many of the cultural issues raised by the original Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
