Deadline stories-auto crashes, crime scene reports, stock market ral lies, the sudden death of a famous person-are the bread-and-butter of journalism. The inverted pyramid is tailor-made for handling difficult copy under the press of deadline. Who was killed at the intersection of Main and Spring streets yesterday? What time did the accident occur? How, and why? Were the streets slick with ice?
