ABSTRACT
A surgeon I know once said there was no such thing as sterility. "So why scrub before an operation?" I asked. "To reduce the risk of infection, of course," he replied. That's the argument about objectivity in a nutshell, too. Perhaps there is
no such thing as pure objectivity, but we try to be objective to reduce the risk of bias, error, favoritism, skullduggery, whatever.
