ABSTRACT
Fry tells the story of sitting next to a copy editor in a major newspaper's newsroom and asking him if he ever did that-cut a story from the bottom without regard to its content or importance to the story? They talked for a few minutes about the evils of this practice and the copy editor said he never does it. Yet in the time Fry talked to him, and sat right next to him, the copy editor was "defining" the ends of several stories on his computer screen and deleting (cutting) them!
