CAT for Certification and Licensure
Computer based testing (CBT) has many advantages for examinees: conve nience in scheduling, increased testing opportunities, automated data collec tion and prompt score reporting. This chapter presents information on one form of computer based testing, computerized adaptive testing or CAT. Al though our experience and examples come from the certification and licensure arena, many aspects of this chapter will be useful to other test devel opers and users who are considering computerizing their assessment tools. The lessons we have learned are applicable across a wide range of domains.
