ABSTRACT
The posthumous appearance of Vol. 4 of Silvan Tomkins’ theoretical treatise Affect, Imagery, Consciousness (1992) marked the end of an exploration that consumed a large part of his intellectual energy for the final 35 years of his life. Tomkins died in 1991, shortly after sending the completed manuscript off to his publisher.
