ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes the prevalence of the main outcome variables considered in this book (e.g., delinquency, substance use, mental health problems, and sexual intercourse), and examines differences in prevalence among the three age samples. In addition, it reviews the prevalence of the diagnoses of disruptive behavior disorders (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder [ADHD], oppositional defiant disorder, and conduct disorder). It also examines whether the average scores on various continuous behavioral indicators change with age. The following disruptive scores are considered: a high ADHD score, conduct problems, and physical aggression. It also examine’s internalizing problems such as shy/withdrawn behavior, depressive mood, and anxious/fearful behavior.
