Rhetoric as Usual I have tried to argue a number of things in this book, and a brief review would seem to be in order before any further attempt to address their implications for understanding the role and position of science in modernity. Thus, before moving on to discuss further the view of science as a cultural resource and its agonistic relations with alternative fields of discourse (such as Christian­ ity), I now summarize the main lines of argument of the previous chapters.
