ABSTRACT

In Part I, we examined the state of the art of network science. We began with a history of the ideas that initially motivated the development of NGS Kids Network, the first network science curriculum, and assessed these ideas based on the last decade of implementation. We then presented case studies of the evolution of three curricula, looking at the divergent paths their developers followed, the issues they faced, and how they resolved these issues. Finally, we offered a list of the lessons learned by experienced practitioners of network science-curriculum developers, project organizers, teachers, and researchers including ourselves.
