ABSTRACT

Why can we not draw in perspective (Kubovy, 1986; Kennedy, 1993; Willats, 1997)? Why can we not effortlessly match the visual angles of objects in the environment with visual angles from suitable marks we are drawing on a picture surface (Gogel, 1998; Gogel and Eby, 1997)? It could be because we cannot escape making systematic errors when trying to assess the relative visual angles of two objects we are viewing.
