ABSTRACT

Vanetti sought “…to explore some potential explanations…” for why new research ideas are accepted and implemented and others are not. Clearly this is an ambitious undertaking not only because the problem is complex, but because there are many diverse sources of potentially relevant literature. For the most part, Vanetti did a good job of bringing together some of the diverse literature and providing some interesting avenues to help guide exploration. However, because he adopted an almost exclusively rational view of organizational dynamics, his exploration seems dysfunctionally constrained. The purpose of my comments is to contribute to his goal of exploration by broadening the path.
