ABSTRACT
In our view, the most important step forward in event history analysis, with respect to the empirical study of social change, has been to explicitly measure and include time-dependent covariates in transition rate models. In such cases, covariates can change their values over process time. Timedependent covariates can be qualitative or quantitative, and may stay constant for finite periods of time or change continuously.
