ABSTRACT

Anxiety may have affected human beings since the beginning of time, but only recently have attempts been made to examine its diverse forms more closely. In particular, anxiety, which is a general feeling of uneasiness experienced during several daily life situations, has been poorly understood. In the past, this type of anxiety has been called existential, free-floating, or pervasive. Currently, however, it is recognized as a specific disorder referred to as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
