As mentioned earlier-and we do not consider it belaboring the obviouspeople can make or break change. Organizations clearly need employees to carry out the corporate mission. So people must enact any proposed changes in order for the change to become reality. As a result, exploring change from a people perspective means examining the respective roles that individuals are capable of playing. Because organizations are people, not places, change-be it reactive or proactive, incremental or transformational-emerges or is initiated through organizational members. In this chapter, we look at the roles that individuals are capable of playing as change agents in organizations.
