ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines different methodologies for data collection that are relatively unobtrusive and occur in those situations children actually inhabit, such as schools, neighborhoods, and playgrounds. In contrast to more controlled and contrived approaches (see chapters on Tests and Experiments), the methods outlined in this chapter stress the importance of observing children in their natural conditions.
