THE PRINCIPAL'S ASSESSMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment is one important key to school effectiveness. If classroom assessments are of high quality (i.e., ifthey produce accurate information about student achievement), then sound decisions can result and students can prosper. But if classroom assessments are of poor quality, then instruction cannot be effective. The fact is, over the decades, teachers have not been prepared to assess accurately. Even in 2000, the accuracy of teachers' classroom assessments cannot be guaranteed.
