ABSTRACT

The two cases in this chapter are constructed around classroom events in which the nature of the assessment activity is a key aspect of learning what students understand and using that information to make instructional decisions. As you read the cases, consider the following questions. They are intended to extend your thinking beyond the specifics of each case, to reflect on and reconsider your own classroom and assessment practices.
