ABSTRACT

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is estimated to affect literally millions of

children throughout the world (i.e., between 3% and 5% of the childhood population, or

approximately one child in every classroom). It accounts for an estimated 30% to 60% of

clinical caseloads in child psychiatry and mental health outpatient clinics in the United

States. Currently, there is no known cure. As a result, ADHD is considered one of the

most serious and perplexing clinical disorders of childhood.
