ABSTRACT
The primary emphasis of this book has been on theory and general principles of organization. The book is intended as an introduction to neural and cognitive modeling not only in the sense of how modeling has been done by established researchers, but also in the sense of how to do modeling. To complete the picture, the reader needs some awareness of current progress in the field’s two basic spheres of application: building neurally-inspired machines, and understanding actual brain function.
