ABSTRACT
Since that time, neurophysiological data have indicated that the all-ornone outlook is oversimplified. Also, neural network models have been developed whose functional units are neuron populations rather than single neurons. In spite of these technical advances, current approaches still owe many of their formulations to pioneers from the 1940s, such as McCulloch, Pitts, Hebb, and Rashevsky.
