ABSTRACT

Changes in the practice of photojournalism have accompanied each new technological shift: from glass plates to film, from large-format to 35 mm, from film to video, and from film/video to digital. What has not changed is the need to understand and to know about the world around us and about those who share that world with us. This chapter reviews the major themes of this book within the context of one question: Is there a future for photojournalism and for visual truth?
