People using two or more languages have a common underlying conceptual base (CUCB) that functions like a warehouse for the knowledge obtained through the two language channels. The CUCB makes it possible for multicompetent speakers to transfer concepts, knowledge, and skills gained in one language to the other language channel. We assume that a differenti ated approach is needed for each type of transfer. In the previous chapters an attempt was made to explain what facilitates concept and knowledge transfer. Now the focus is on skill transfer.
