ABSTRACT
Biased treatment of students is a problem with ethical dimensions that every instructor is likely to face at some point. This chapter looks at playing favorites, giving breaks to special student groups, revealing a bad attitude toward all students, and making individual compensations for certain students when others are not offered the same treatment. Special emphasis is placed on the concept of impartiality, for when advantages are extended to some students, unintentional harm may befall the others.
