ABSTRACT
You’ve read this far, and now you are probably thinking, “Okay, so what is the bottom line, take-home message, and, if I ‘buy’ it, what is my next step?”
The bottom line is that we want our students to engage in meaningful learning. This means that they must recognize that they must take responsibility for their learning, and that the key to meaningful learning is the process of building, testing, and refining mental models. It is our job, as teachers, to help them become active participants in this process and to help them become proficient at engaging in this process.
