ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to describe how consultee-centered consultation operates within a system of care that enables children with severe emotional disorders to stay in their own homes and to receive specialized education and treatment in special day-classes within the general school system. An important part of this program is the Child Guidance Consultation Team, hereafter referred to as the “Consultation team” composed of consultants and coordinators. The team has been in existence for 24 years. The purpose is to support the organization of the classes and to contribute to the teachers’ professional skills and well-being in such a way that they remain in the program. It is necessary to guarantee the continuity for children in the classes.
