Sexual Relationships

Among recent theories and treatment models related to Asperger's Syndrome, themes that target interpersonal relationships are among those that attract the attention of families, therapists, and people who themselves manifest the syndrome. Behavior is only one aspect of sexuality, a word that also implies love, intimacy, communication, emotions, experiences, and social skills. It is critical to address sexuality in all its complexity to adequately understand and intervene with the population of people who have Asperger's Syndrome. This chapter presents current information on the sociosexual proftle of individuals with Asperger's Syndrome and issues related to teaching social and sexual skills.
