The most important building block for your blueprint-to develop the characters with an emotional arc to prevent them from being flat and stereotypical. Without an array of interesting and exciting characters of the story just won't work and writer must concentrate on how to develop characters with depth, with heart and with soul. The more desperately the main character has to reach a specific goal the more exciting the story. The goal of the main character in the opening of the screenplay is really the action or the story structure for the screenplay. The goal gives the script movement, provides the protagonist with an objective to strive for throughout the story and furnishes the screenplay with a story. Now, if solving a crime is all the story is about, it will have little depth. The emotional line of the story is the emotional relationship between the main character and another major character.
