ABSTRACT

Race has been acknowledged as being at the root of one of America’s greatest problems. Despite recent decades of intense focus geared toward changing the way people are treated because of their skin color, America still struggles with issues of racial profiling, discrimination in hiring and promotion practices, and unequal access to housing, education, and almost everything else basic to human life. To be sure, things have improved from the days when African Americans couldn’t eat in restaurants or had to drive roundtrip to events because they were allowed in hotels only to clean or carry bags. However, racial prejudice remains an enduring problem.
