A Rationale for Connecting Dual Language Programs with Gifted Education

Few educators would disagree with the benefits that dual language and gifted education programs have to offer their students, especially with the mandates required by the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation, which, some would argue, reflects a deficit model of education. Both programs allow schools to successfully account for all their students, as opposed to those that are the least able. Advocacy from parents, teachers, and administrators can result in the successful development of these programs in order to meet the needs of our nation’s outstanding public school students.
