Independent variables are predictors, antecedents, or presumed causes or influences being studied. Differences in the Independent variable are hypothesized to affect, predict, or explain differences in the dependent or outcome variable. So, independent variables are predictor variables; whereas dependent variables are the variables being predicted, or outcome variables.
