ABSTRACT

Television has many advantages for historians and historians-to-be. Notonly is television a vast area with numerous valuable topics, all of its questions are tied to one innovation, the broadcasting of pictures. Its main idea is easy to tame. Hardly the least of its attractions is its pervasiveness and appeal. Just as everyone is fascinated by TV, they want to know more about it. Add to this a field unsurpassed in social implications, public interest, and debate, and easily seen is a subject ripe with possibilities.
