ABSTRACT

An extraction (pumping) well and three monitoring wells were used to conduct a pumping test

in a confined aquifer. The location of the wells and a simplified hydrogeologic cross section

are shown in Figure 13.1 and Figure 13.2, respectively. Monitoring wells MW1, MW2, and

MW3 are 8, 35, and 120 m from the pumping well PW, respectively. The radius of the

pumping well in its screen section is 0.3 m. The test conducted was a three-step pumping

test with each step lasting 6 h. The pumping rates were 10, 15, and 20 L=s. Table 13.1 lists the drawdown data for all wells recorded at the end of each step. From the available data,

assuming quasi-steady-state conditions, determine the transmissivity and the hydraulic con-

ductivity of the aquifer.
