ABSTRACT
In this chapter the international framework relevant to EMC is described. EMC standards and regulations cover in detail many aspects of EMC performance and testing and are continuously evolving. Neither the complete detail nor the current status of standards can therefore be reflected fully in a book. It is the responsibility of the designer to keep up to date with relevant standards in his or her field of activity and for the intended market. This can best be done through national standards and trade associations. The purpose of this chapter is to present the basic structure of EMC standards as it stands at the time of writing.
