As with all other body systems, the urinary tract is directly and indirectly affected by aging (1-5).
n Direct effects are exemplified by intrinsic, molecular, and cellular changes involving the nephron (the functional unit of the kidney), the bladder, and the prostate (both parts of the lower urinary tract) (6,7).
