ABSTRACT

This chapter and the attached DVD deals with three different imaging techniques: computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET).

CT is the use of x-ray equipment to obtain images from different angles of the body. A computer processes the data to develop a cross-sectional image of the body in a series of slices. CT can show different types of tissues and organs, such as bones and blood vessels, with good detail and contrast.
